The village of Carpentersville is located in Kane County.  At the 2010 census, the population was 37,691. The total area is 8.10 square miles. 7.90 square miles (97.53%) is land and 0.20 square miles (2.47%) is water. Carpentersville’s motto is: “Building a better tomorrow today”.

There are various school options for students residing in Carpentersville. District 300 and District 220 are the primary districts students go into. The elementary school in District 300 are Parkview, Eastview, Meadowdale, Perry, Wright, Algonquin Lakes, Dundee Highlands, Golfview, Westfield, Gilberts, Lake in the Hills, Neubert, Lakewood, Sleepy Hollow, Liberty, Hampshire, and Lincoln Prairie. The middle schools are Carpentersville, Algonquin, Dundee, Hampshire, Lakewood, and Westfield Community School. The high schools available to District 300 students are Dundee-Crown, Harry D. Jacobs, and Hampshire. There are two other types of schooling available. The alternative school is Oak Ridge School. Oak Ridge School is available for all students in the District 300 area who need a different approach to learning. Cambridge Lakes is a charter school available to students. District 220 has a couple options available within their boundaries. The elementary schools are North Barrington, Roslyn Road, Grove Avenue, Barbara B. Rose, Countryside, Hough Street, Arnett C. Lines, and Sunny Hill. The middle school available is Barrington. Barrington Middle School has two different campuses. One is the Prairie Camps and the other is the Station Campus. The high school available to District 220 students is Barrington High School.

There are a few recreational activities for Carpentersville residents. The Fox River Trail is a trail that goes along the Fox River and it stretches from Algonquin to Aurora. Its beautiful scenery and wildlife make it a perfect place to run, walk, or job. There a few stops along the way that allow fishing as well! The Meadowdale International Raceway was once home to a race track in the 1950s and has turned into a trail for anyone to enjoy! There are still signs of the race track, like worn down barriers that would separate the spectators and the racers. It is definitely a sight to see! Carpentersville is part of the Dundee Township Park District and the DTPD has many activities for anyone! At the park district in East Dundee, along route 72, they offer a rec and fitness center, day care center, senior center, outdoor (and indoor) swimming pools, and Dolphin Cove Family Aquatic Park. Other activities not at the park district location are golf courses and Randall Oaks Barnyard Zoo. Camps are also available for young children. The activities held are arts & crafts, various field trips, special events, and other activities specially made for children. There are many parks in the park district as well. They include: Austin Park, Besigner Park, Carpenter Park, Meadowdale Park, Shenandoah Park, Silverstone Lake Park, and many more.

Carpentersville is home to a few industries. The main one, and most well-known, is Otto Engineering. Otto Engineering is known for reaching out to high school students and offering them a job when they graduate high school while they attend school as well. It’s a great opportunity for any student interested in engineering. Acme Industrial CO., Performance Stamping Co. Inc., and Prairie State Industries, Inc. are also very popular industries within Carpentersville walls.
