At one time, the namesake feature of Whalon Lake Dog Park was a quarry. Today, the park is part of a preserve with an assortment of habitats, including prairies and wetlands. The spacious 11.9-acre off-leash dog park features a separate 1.9-acre section for dogs under 35 pounds. You and Fido can also hike the 3.71-mile path that's part of the DuPage River Trail. Use of the dog park requires a permit, which is $20 per year. Hours are 6 a.m. - sunset daily.
- Happy Bark Dog Park - 91st and California, Evergreen Park, IL 60805
Happy Bark Dog Park is part of a beautiful 50-acre green space near Evergreen Park homes for sale. Two-legged visitors can participate in disc golf, hit golf balls on the driving range, and visit the educational, agricultural farm. Their four-legged friends have a dedicated park that's divided into three sections. One is for larger dogs, one is for smaller dogs, and one is specifically for obedience training activities. The yards are fully secured, with access provided by an electronic keychain fob that may be purchased at the Village Hall. Annual passes are $20 for residents and $50 for non-residents. Happy Bark Dog Park is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Trantina Dog Park is actually part of a scenic farm that's only minutes from Homer Glen homes for sale. As the first parcel developed under Homer Township's Open Space Program, Trantina Farm was created to preserve the area's natural resources. The dog park, approximately two acres in size, has separate sections for smaller and larger dogs, with 30 pounds being the dividing line. The two of you can also walk the trail that loops through the surrounding grounds, with great opportunities for bird-watching and wildlife-spotting. The park is open daily from dawn until dusk, and there is no entrance fee.

The name of Greene Valley Forest Preserve Dog Park is certainly descriptive of this scenic area. In reality, it comes from the surname of the family that originally owned the land. The 16-acre off-leash park provides lots of space for your dog to run free. Separate areas are set for smaller and larger dogs. Permits for the off-leash park are $10 per day and $50 per year. Hours are one hour after sunrise to one hour after sunset.
